On August 8, the 2018 Annual Meeting of Spinning Machinery Branch of China Textile Machinery Association was held in Jinzhong, Shanxi Province, which was attended by more than 120 representatives from national spinning machinery and equipment enterprises.

Gu Ping, vice president of China Textile Machinery Association, analyzed the operation of the textile machinery industry in the first half of 2018 and highlighted the market and technological development of spinning machinery. According to him, from January to June 2018, the textile machinery industry continued the growth trend since the second half of last year, and the main economic indicators maintained growth and achieved stable operation.From January to June, the spinning machinery industry realized a main business income of 55.626 billion yuan, an increase of 16.02% year-on-year, and a total profit of 3.181 billion yuan, an increase of 19.56% year-on-year. Year-on-year growth of 19.56%.

Gu Ping introduced that in 2017, short process new spinning equipment is more favored by users, and the development of ring spinning machinery is relatively stable. Statistics show that the market demand for automated and continuous equipment continues to strengthen, whether it is a new project or a transformation project, labor-saving equipment is preferred by spinning enterprises. According to the statistics of China Spinning Machinery Association on key production enterprises, in the first half of 2018, among the main products of spinning machinery, 2,200 sets of carding machines were sold, a year-on-year decrease of 4.4%; about 1,500 sets of drawbars were sold, a year-on-year decrease of 16.7%; about 380 sets of combing machines were sold, a year-on-year decrease of 44.1%; about 750 sets of roving machines were sold, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%; and about 2.3 million spindles of cotton spun spinning machines were sold. 2.3 million spindles, a year-on-year increase of 6.5% set of spinning device sales of about 2.62 million spindles, an increase of 21.3%; rotor spinning machine sales of about 270,000 head, an increase of 17.4%; automatic winder sales of about 300 units, the same period last year.

Overall it seems that cotton spinning equipment continues to high-yield, high-speed, automation, continuity, information technology direction. At the same time, spinning equipment and specialized equipment enterprises also combined with their own situation and market demand to increase innovation. For the patent situation of more than 60 enterprises that mainly produce spinning equipment and specialized equipment, a total of 245 patents were authorized in 2017, including 97 invention patents, 140 utility model patents and 8 appearance patents. Although the total number of patents is less than that of 2016, the number of invention patents has increased significantly.

Exploiting the international market has become an important development direction for Chinese spinning machine enterprises. Liu Bin, General Manager of the Operation and Management Department of China Textile Foreign Economic Cooperation Limited, analyzed the current situation of the international market for spinning machinery.

Currently India's annual demand for cotton spinning equipment is about 2 million spindles, of which the new capacity of about 1 million spindles. India's industrial system is more complete, locally manufactured spinning equipment has a very strong market adaptability and competitiveness. Liu Bin believes that China's textile enterprises in the Indian market opportunities are great, the challenge is also great, whether the success of the enterprise mainly depends on product quality, market strategy and service level.

Vietnam has become the largest source country for China's cotton yarn imports. As of 2017, there were 8 million spindles in Vietnam, and in the last 3~5 years, Vietnam has been increasing spindles at an annual rate of 15%~20%, with the goal of increasing spindles in 2020 to 10 million spindles. Chinese enterprises have exported 3 million spindles of spinning equipment to the Vietnamese market in the past 10 years. At present, Chinese equipment accounts for about 70% of the Vietnamese market.

Liu Bin believes that this is mainly due to Bangladesh and India border, many Indian textile technicians gradually penetrate into the textile mills in Bangladesh, in response to this problem, the expansion of the local service team, specialized training has been the Chinese textile enterprises of the urgent need to make great efforts to grasp the implementation.

Liu Bin believes that spinning machine enterprises need to carry out product development according to the needs of users in various market segments, and consider how to guide customers with technological advantages, how to finance support to resist risks and reduce costs, with precision marketing to efficiently locate potential customers, and how to improve the level of service.

Close communication between upstream and downstream enterprises has become an important aspect of promoting the progress of textile machinery. Zhang Jianxiang, Deputy General Manager of Lutai Textile Co., Ltd. introduced Lutai's experience in the selection of spinning equipment and shared his thoughts and understanding of spinning equipment and international layout. According to the introduction, the selection of Lutai spinning equipment starts from the enterprise's product positioning, product structure and quality requirements. Lutai products are positioned in the international high-end market, and currently mainly use imported equipment from Germany, Switzerland, Japan and other countries, and began to partially use domestic spinning equipment.

The new period for China's textile industry provides new opportunities, but at the same time to face up to their own gaps. Zhang Jianxiang suggested spinning machine enterprises, first, both self-confidence, full of energy, but also have a calm and mature mentality, seek truth from facts, closely around the process of doing innovation. Secondly, upgrade from manufacturing to manufacturing service-oriented. Spinning machine enterprises should be extended to the downstream, for the different needs of customers, the establishment of expert teams, to provide professional customized services, to provide customers with overall solutions and personalized design. Third, see the market, do mainstream development. Fourth, look in the right direction, seize the opportunity to go out. Fifth, the development and design center built in the international metropolis is the trend. Sixth, establish assembly plants with core technology. According to Lutai's experience in going out, Zhang Jianxiang believes that it is an inevitable trend for large enterprises to go out. Going out can not only reduce production costs and trade barriers, but more importantly, realize the international development of enterprises and gain a larger market.

Representatives of the participating enterprises also discussed and exchanged views on the market development and future development direction of spinning machinery and how to standardize the competition in the industry.
